The UAE’s Foreign Assistance and the SDGs
The UAE Foreign Assistance Policy, launched in 2016 and updated in 2022, lays out countries of focus
and priority global themes that resonate with the SDGs. By aligning its foreign aid efforts with the SDGs,
the UAE seeks to meaningfully contribute to global peace, prosperity and sustainable development,
leaving a lasting and positive impact on the lives of people around the world.
As a visionary global partner, the UAE’s foreign assistance efforts encompass a broad spectrum of
initiatives aimed at reducing poverty, promoting peace and prosperity and sustainability worldwide. To
strategically target its assistance, make its aid more effective, and maximize its impact, the UAE, as
prescribed by its Foreign Assistance Policy announced in 2022, the UAE prioritizes eleven key SDGs,
each representing a crucial area for supporting developing countries’ development and progress.
