Abu Dhabi Fund for Development
“ADFD: Pioneering sustainable socio-economic growth in developing nations through
diverse financial assistance and strategic investments.”
Established on July 15, 1971, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) operates
as an independent national institution under the aegis of the Abu Dhabi Government.
It holds a paramount position in the UAE’s foreign assistance framework, managing
grant financing both from and on behalf of the UAE Government. Furthermore, certain
foreign assistance disbursements from the UAE Government are facilitated through the
ADFD, exemplifying its integral role.
The primary mission of ADFD is to assist developing nations in realizing sustainable
socio-economic advancement. To this end, it extends financial assistance in various
forms: from concessionary loans and management of government grants to equity
investments. In addition to its direct assistance, ADFD actively seeks investment
opportunities that galvanize the private sector within beneficiary nations, fostering
a more robust economic growth trajectory. By doing so, it not only bolsters the
economic framework of these countries but also ensures the Fund’s future resources
are diversified and fortified.
