Foreign Aid Report 2022
In response to the devastating floods in Sudan, the UAE promptly provided emergency assistance, further
emphasizing its commitment to help those in need. The UAE dispatched nearly 2,200 tons of emergency supplies,
including food and non-food items, and provided thousands of tents as temporary shelters. To simultaneously
support the local economy and deliver relief, the UAE strategically sourced items from local markets in Sudan.
This multi-faceted approach not only catered to the immediate needs of the flood-stricken population, but also
stimulated economic activity, fostering resilience amidst adversity.

“The Lives and Livelihoods Fund”, which has invested over USD 1.4 billion since its inception in 2016, also received
a substantial UAE contribution of AED 32.1 million (USD 8.7 million) in 2022. This fund has been instrumental in
enhancing productivity and livelihoods for over 3 million smallholder farmers, ensuring quality healthcare for 12.5
million women and children, and set to provide over 7.5 million people with improved water and sanitation facilities
in 22 member countries of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
Through its multifaceted approach, the UAE’s contribution to SDG 1 remains indispensable, enhancing the resilience
of vulnerable communities and acting as a catalyst for poverty eradication across the globe.
