The permissible period of stay in the Czech Republic for UAE citizens:
- Tourism and medical care: 90 days within a 180 day period.
- In the event that UAE citizens expect their stay in the Czech Republic to exceed 90 days (students, patients seeking medical care, and their accompaniments), they must apply for a long-term visa from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the United Arab Emirates. It is not possible to extend the length of stay from within the Czech Republic. UAE citizens are at risk of being banned from entering the European Union (according to the number of overstay days) if he/she violates the legal permitted length of stay in the Czech Republic.
Advice and travel tips to the Czech Republic
- Ensure that you arrive at your place of accommodation at the specified time or inform the reception hotel /apartments of your expected time of arrival as not all places have a manned 24 hour reception. Please ensure that you do not disturb other guests by being noisy after 10PM.
- Ensure that you have booked your car rental from a well-known car rental company and don’t forget to take out accident insurance.
- Those wishing to drive cars inside the Czech Republic must have an international driving license, as the UAE driving license is not recognized in the Czech Republic. You may be fined repeatedly for using it.
- There are toll roads in the Czech Republic and you are required to purchase an electronic vignette from the following website www.edalnice.cz . Keep your confirmation of purchase with you in case you are asked to present it. When renting a car, ask the car rental company for information about the electronic vignette.
- Please take into account that parking is permissible in designated areas in Czech cities and parking fees must be paid.
- A seat belt must be used in cars by all passengers. Front seat passengers must not be younger than 12 years of age. Children under 150 cm and weighing less than 36 kg must sit in the back seat of the driver and be in a child safety seat. All cars must use low beam headlights, day and night all year round. Mobile phone use is prohibited while driving. Non-compliance may lead to fines.
- In residential areas - cities and villages - the maximum driving speed is 50 km / hour. Pedestrians must always be given priority when crossing streets. Cars and pedestrians must always give way to trams. The speed limit outside towns and cities is 90 km / h. The speed limit on highways outside residential areas is 130 km / h.
- When using public transport, tickets must be purchased and validated from the machine before accessing the metro platform or once you have boarded trams and buses. You’ll be fined on the spot if you are travelling with a ticket that has not been validated.
- Exchange currency only from known currency exchange offices. Check the exchange rate first and take note of small print and hidden commissions. Do not sign on the receipt until you have checked that you have been given the agreed upon amount.
- Adhere to quiet hours (according to the law, from 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM). This applies to all cities in the Czech Republic
- Children under the age of 15 should not be left without supervision.
Bringing cash to the Czech Republic
Natural persons can carry a maximum of 10,000 Euros in cash. Amounts exceeding 10,000 Euros or its equivalent in other currencies must be declared at customs.
Allowed Medication
Visitors to the Czech Republic are allowed to bring in medication that contain addictive substances which have been dispensed to the patient by a doctor for personal use. You should ensure that the quantity does not exceed the length of your stay in the Czech Republic and that the type of medication is used to treat the diagnosed illness. The Ministry of Health also advises visitors to the Czech Republic who carry medicines regardless of whether or not they contain addictive substances to have the following:
- The patient's full name, date of birth and permanent address.
- The name of the medicine, its dose, and its strength:
- Effective substance.
- The number of medicine boxes prescribed for the period of stay abroad.
- The name of the doctor and his seal with his signature and the seal of the medical center.
- Doctor's contact numbers - the name and address of the medical center.
- A copy of the doctor's prescription or an invoice from the pharmacy that dispensed the medicine.

- Register in the Tawajdi program.
- Keep official documents such as passports and ID in a safe place.
- Do not leave items unattended in the public places or cars such as a handbag, bags, boxes or anything else (so as not to tempt thieves).
