Ibtisam Saleh Al Khayyal assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Prague, in July 2020. She began her assignment as Second Secretary, Department Head of Economic and Media Affairs at the UAE Embassy in Prague in November 2016.
She entered the diplomatic service in 2008 as a diplomatic attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. Between 2013 - 2016 she first assumed the post of Head of the Consular Department at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Ottawa, Canada, and later served as Third Secretary, Head of the Economic and Media Department.
Before joining the Foreign Service, Ms Al Khayyal gained valuable experience in the banking and financial sector. Ms Al Khayyal holds a Bachelor Degree in Politics and Social Science from the United Arab Emirates University. She also completed UNGA intensive program at the United Nations in New York, Emirates Diplomatic Training in Washington DC, USA, Diplomatic Studies at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in the UAE, The Gulf- Europe Relations in Institute of Diplomatic Studies in Riyadh-KSA, Leadership skills workshop at the University of Ottawa, Executive Certificate in International Negotiation at Carleton University in Ottawa, Consular Specialists Course, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development in Canada, The World Future Energy Summit in the United Arab Emirates. She speaks Arabic and English.
