The UAE Embassy in London welcomed a diverse group of senior government, civil, and community leaders to break their fasts at an Iftar co-hosted with the Woolf Institute at Leighton House in London.
The Iftar provided a chance to share values of cross-cultural understanding and tolerance between leaders in the UAE and UK, as well as celebrating the two nations’ strong friendship.
His Excellency Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom, greeted guests and took the opportunity to highlight the extraordinary coincidence that Ramadan, Easter, and Passover fell at the same time this year. As the UAE remains committed to promoting interfaith dialogue and mutual respect, His Excellency noted that the holy festivities provide a “rare and wonderful opportunity for people of Abrahamic faiths to come together and celebrate our shared values”.
HE Ambassador Abulhoul also reflected on the recent launch of the Abrahamic Family House, emphasizing that the unique space – which is home to a mosque, a church, and a synagogue – invites open dialogue and nurtures understanding between people of diverse faiths.
He said: “What makes the space so special is to see how it is inspiring and nurturing understanding between people of goodwill. We hope that the Abrahamic Family House can inspire similar openness and religious tolerance throughout the Middle East, which the UAE believes is a fundamental pillar of peace and prosperity.”
Dr Esther-Miriam Wagner, Executive Director at the Woolf Institute, said: “We are honored to host this Iftar and share in the values of compassion, generosity, and community. By bringing together leaders from different faiths and backgrounds, we can build bridges of understanding and create a more inclusive and peaceful society. The event is testament to the UAE’s commitment to fostering greater understanding between different faith communities.”
