The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a train in the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries of innocent people.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of international law.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Pakistan, and to the families of the victims of this heinous terrorist attack, as well as its wishes of a speedy recovery for all the injured.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France of the French Republic.

During the meeting, which took place as part of His Highness' official visit to Paris, the two top diplomats focused on the strategic relations between the UAE and France and ways to enhance and develop them across various sectors, including economic, trade, and investment, as well as cultural cooperation.

The talks also covered collaboration in climate action and advanced technology.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed his pride in the long-standing ties between the UAE and France, commending the continuous growth and development of their cooperation in key sectors that support both countries’ visions for comprehensive development and sustainable economic prosperity.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments, particularly in the Middle East and their humanitarian implications.

Additionally, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and Jean-Noël Barrot discussed joint efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and worldwide, in line with the aspirations of nations for growth and prosperity.

The United Arab Emirates has expressed its solidarity with the Argentine Republic, which was impacted by heavy rainfall that resulted in several deaths and injuries, as well as significant damage in the southeast of the Province of Buenos Aires.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the historical and strategic relations between the UAE and France and ways to enhance them in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries and promotes the prosperity and well-being of their peoples.

The two sides also discussed the outcomes of the working visit made by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Paris last February, highlighting its significant role in strengthening the frameworks of cooperation and partnership between the two friendly nations across various fields.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the depth of the strategic relations between the UAE and France, which, he said, are based on a long history of trust, mutual respect, and shared interests. Sheikh Abdullah also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UAE National Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris – Philharmonie. The United Arab Emirates has condemned in the strongest terms the attack on a helicopter affiliated with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and on South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) in Upper Nile State, which resulted in the death of a member of the international force and several government troops, in addition to the injury of two crew members.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its strong condemnation of the attack against international forces and the SSPDF, emphasizing that this targeting constitutes a violation of the principles of international law.

Furthermore, the Ministry expressed its solidarity with the countries participating in UNMISS forces, and extended its condolences to the UN and the Government of the Republic of South Sudan, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

Her Excellency Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, delivered a keynote address at the fourth annual Forbes 30/50 Summit, which united 400 leaders from 49 countries to champion women’s empowerment across sectors, generations, and geographies.

Held on the week of International Women’s Day, the summit provided a platform to celebrate women’s achievements and foster dialogue on inclusive leadership.

In her remarks, H.E. Al Kaabi highlighted the significance of reconvening in the UAE capital, stating, “Hosting this summit once again in Abu Dhabi celebrates our joint commitment to collaboration, innovation, and dialogue. We are pleased to facilitate the sharing of extraordinary stories of female leadership in which women shine brightly and inspire others.” Her Excellency commended Summit Chair Mika Brzezinski, Vice Chairs Maggie McGrath and Huma Abedin, and valued partners, including the Department of Culture and Tourism, for their roles in ensuring the summit’s success.

Her Excellency Al Kaabi emphasized the UAE’s guiding principle of harnessing women’s potential, explaining, “We know that when women succeed, families, communities, and ultimately the nation thrive.” H.E. pointed to long-standing initiatives such as the Women’s Union, established by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.

Furthermore, H.E. Al Kaabi described education as a cornerstone for progress, noting that “More than 70 percent of college graduates in the UAE are women - underscoring our commitment to empowering women.”

Reflecting on her journey through government, the cultural sector, and international relations, H.E. Al Kaabi expressed her appreciation to visionary leaders and peers - both women and men - for helping shape her path. “I stand here not as an exception but as an example of what can happen when a nation invests in women, working alongside men to achieve shared aspirations,” Her Excellency added.

Addressing future generations, Her Excellency encouraged young women worldwide to embrace leadership opportunities and pursue bold ideas. “By succeeding, each of you will help your nations lead - no matter where you call home,” H.E. Al Kaabi concluded, urging the audience to share insights from the summit and continue building supportive environments that enable women to flourish.

Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, the United Arab Emirates has inaugurated the Madhol Field Hospital in the Northern Bahr el Ghazal state of the Republic of South Sudan. The event was attended by several ministers and officials from both the UAE and South Sudan, and international organizations.

The opening of the hospital – under the supervision of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council - underscores the UAE's humanitarian commitment to developing and supporting communities in need and those facing challenges in accessing essential services, especially urgent healthcare and proper treatment, which is a fundamental requirement for all segments of society, including men, women, and children. This is particularly significant in light of ongoing health challenges, such as the spread of malaria caused by insufficient medical services and inadequate access to medication. As a result, Madhol Field Hospital will play a key role in improving the quality of healthcare in South Sudan.

During his speech at the hospital’s inauguration, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, affirmed that the developmental and charity projects implemented by the UAE are a fundamental aspect of the country’s commitment to supporting communities in need. The UAE’s initiatives are carried out in close collaboration with the relevant international organizations, focusing on international priority projects such as education and healthcare.

His Excellency stated, “The inauguration of Madhol Field Hospital embodies the legacy of generosity and giving established by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and also reflects the visionary leadership focusing on development and solidarity of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, in addressing healthcare challenges and providing sustainable solutions to regions struggling with significant shortages in access to essential healthcare services.”

His Excellency added, “The UAE is dedicated to empowering communities through humanitarian and development projects, as well as individuals through skills development. Today, as we celebrate with South Sudan and reap the benefits of our strong bilateral relations and deep-rooted values, we announce the inauguration of Madhol Field Hospital, which has a 100-bed capacity, and several specialized clinics to treat approximately two million people from the host community, South Sudanese returning from Sudan, and Sudanese refugees in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.”

His Excellency emphasized that this hospital is the third healthcare facility built by the UAE to provide medical services to Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries. The facility follows the successful establishment of two field hospitals in Amdjarass and Abéché, Chad.

His Excellency added, "Since its founding, humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians, particularly the sick, children, the elderly, and women, have served as the foundation of the UAE's policy." In this regard, the UAE has been resolute in its position in relation to the crisis in Sudan since April 2023. The country’s primary focus remains on addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation, and adopting an approach prioritizing civilians’ requirements and fulfilling their needs.”

Furthermore, His Excellency underscored the UAE’s steadfast and unwavering commitment to support all efforts to address this catastrophic crisis, and to work alongside regional and international partners to ensure stability and peace for the Sudanese people, reflecting the core values of humanitarian solidarity deeply rooted in the UAE’s leadership and people.

His Excellency continued, “The UAE announced an additional USD 200 million of aid during the High-Level Humanitarian Conference for the People of Sudan, held in Addis Ababa. The conference, the first to be held for Sudan this year, will serve as a catalyst for future conferences that are scheduled to assist the people of Sudan. The additional aid reflects the UAE’s unwavering and continuous support for the Sudanese people.

“Since the onset of the crisis, the UAE has provided more than USD 600 million to support a humanitarian response. Furthermore, the UAE has provided USD 3.5 billion of humanitarian aid over the past 10 years to the people of Sudan, affirming the country’s unwavering commitment to support people in need during crises.”

For his part, His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, underlined that the bilateral relations between the two countries are entering new levels of cooperation across various fields and sectors. The healthcare sector is regarded as a global priority that aligns with Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on promoting good health and well-being. This is achieved through the establishment of medical infrastructure, including public hospitals and specialized centers, and the development of health systems - all aimed at capacity building and development, and addressing future challenges, such as the spread of diseases and epidemics. Madhol Field Hospital will aim to provide essential medical services and treatments to various segments in Madhol region and surrounding areas.

For his part, Dr Humphrey Karamagi, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative for South Sudan said, “We express our appreciation to the UAE for its leading international humanitarian efforts in enhancing the healthcare sector in Africa, through several projects and initiatives. These include the construction of hospitals to meet the needs of millions and improve various healthcare services. The opening of Madhol Field Hospital today stands as one of the UAE’s projects aimed at serving people from various surrounding regions, including refugees.”

For his part, His Excellency Simon Uber Mawut, Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal said, “Today is the moment we have been waiting for, and we thank the UAE for constructing Madhol Field Hospital, which will aim to address health challenges in our region. Today is a historic day for the residents of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state and the entire region.”

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone conversation today with Andrii Sybiha‎, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations across various levels.

The two top diplomats reviewed the outcomes of the official visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the UAE last February, emphasising its importance in expanding bilateral cooperation, especially following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries.

Additionally, the two sides discussed the latest regional and international developments.

The UAE has strongly condemned the attacks by armed groups targeting security forces in the Syrian Arab Republic. 

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reiterated the UAE's firm position in supporting Syria's stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Furthermore, the UAE expressed solidarity with the brotherly Syrian people, and its support for all endeavors aimed at fulfilling their aspirations for security, peace, and dignity.

His Excellency Abdulla Ahmed Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, concluded a two-day trip, from the 6-7 March, to the European Union (EU) in Brussels, where he met with senior officials and stakeholders in the energy and water sectors.

During the meetings, His Excellency reaffirmed the UAE’s close partnership with the EU, focusing on aligning efforts, cooperation and achieving progress in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency and water resilience.

H.E. Balalaa’s visit followed the 2026 United Nations Water Conference (UNWC26) Organizational Session in New York and coincides with EU Ocean Days in Brussels. During the visit, His Excellency was invited to take part in the EU’s consultative process on reviewing the EU’s water resilience strategy.

At the consultative process, H.E. Balalaa highlighted the launch of the 2026 UNWC process, outlined the UAE’s priorities for the conference and invited the international community to take part in working towards advancing innovative, inclusive and scalable solutions to water challenges.

His Excellency further affirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening its cooperation with the EU in advancing climate action, energy transition, water resilience, and global sustainability. His Excellency also highlighted that discussions in Brussels were instrumental in driving forward the climate adaptation and energy related commitments made at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which was held in Dubai in 2023, to ensure strong alignment with the EU ahead of the UN Ocean Conference 2025, COP30, and the 2026 UN Water Conference.

The visit included meetings with a number of EU officials and the European Investment Bank (EIB) reinforcing bilateral relations to explore the potential to expand investments in clean energy, infrastructure, and water sustainability.

H.E. Balalaa met with European Commission representatives: Ditte Juul-Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy; Florika Fink-Hooijer, Director-General of Environment; Kurt Vandenberghe, Director-General Climate Action; and Charlina Vitcheva, Director-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in addition to representatives from the European External Action Service (EEAS).

The discussions focused on advancing joint efforts in water sustainability in the lead-up to 2026 UNWC, broader climate adaptation strategies, mitigating climate change, and enhancing cooperation ahead of the UN Ocean Conference 2025 in France.

A UAE delegation, led by Her Excellency Dr. Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister for Medical Affairs and Life Sciences, visited Emirati children receiving medical treatment at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Her Excellency presented Ramadan gifts to the children in celebration of the blessed month. 

Her Excellency Barakat expressed her hopes of better health and a prosperous future to all the children, wishing a swift recovery to the patients receiving treatment from the medical experts at the hospital. In addition, Her Excellency commended the children’s bravery in combatting illnesses. 

The visit highlights the close ties between the UAE and the Great Ormond Street Hospital, which was established in 2014, following a GBP 60 million donation from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women's Union and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation to establish the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children in London.

This world-renowned, leading-edge medical facility is the result of a partnership between Great Ormond Street Hospital, University College London, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to specialize in advancing research and medical care for the treatment of rare diseases.

H.E. Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received a copy of the credentials of H.E. Emilio Pin Godos, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the UAE.

His Excellency wished the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain success in the performance of his duties and emphasized the UAE’s keenness to enhance the relations between the UAE and Spain in all fields.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Senegal, co-hosts of the 2026 UN Water Conference, convened the international community for the Organizational Session of the Conference on 3 March 2025 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. 

As mandated by the Conference modalities resolution adopted in September 2024, this Organizational Session served as an opportunity for Member States and stakeholders to share their insights and recommendations for the themes of the six interactive dialogues that will drive the 2026 Conference. These dialogues will focus on addressing global water challenges and advancing progress to accelerate the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

The Organizational Session opened with high-level speeches by H.E. Abdulla Ahmed Balalaa, UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability and H.E. Cheikh Tidiane Dieye, Senegal Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation. The leaders emphasized the joint commitment by the UAE and Senegal in convening a collaborative and inclusive preparatory process to drive an impact-oriented Conference in 2026 that brings the world together to enable collective progress on water, for all.

H.E. Abdulla Ahmed Balalaa emphasized, “ For the UAE, water shapes our history, our present, and our future, fostering deep resilience, resourcefulness, and ingenuity. We are committed to accelerating innovative and inclusive global water action, through expanded knowledge sharing and international cooperation, harnessing the power of increased investment, and scaling technological solutions for the benefit of all. 

H.E. Cheikh Tidiane Dieye highlighted, “The 2026 UN Water Conference embodies a pivotal moment for humanity, a meeting with our collective future, and a historic opportunity to turn our commitments into concrete actions for water and sanitation. The time is no longer for reflection or recommendations, but for action. We must therefore ensure that this process is inclusive and participatory so that every voice and every perspective are taken into account.”
     
The UAE is excited to be co-hosting the 2026 UN Water Conference, in partnership with Senegal, to convene the world to accelerate the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 on ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. 
     
No nation is immune to the way that water stress can exacerbate food security, public health, and economic and political stability. Ultimately, water is the key enabler to achieving the entire 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Agenda, and SDG6 is the lynchpin to unlocking all 17 goals.”

The UAE and Senegal invited and called on all stakeholders across the international community - including governments, international organizations, financing and investment actors, NGOs, civil society, academics, local communities, youth and Indigenous Peoples – to raise their collective ambition to accelerate global water action, together. 

Despite progress, according to the latest statistics, at present, 2.2 billion people still lack clean drinking water, 3.5 billion people still lack safely managed sanitation services, and 4 billion people still experience severe water scarcity for at least one month per year.

The session was joined by Mr. Li Junhua, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), and Mr. Alvaro Lario, UN Water Chair, along with 72 participants, including 26 stakeholders from UN entities, NGOs, civil society, and the private sector.

Following the Organizational Session, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), as the Conference Secretariat, will prepare a background note on proposed themes, in consultation with Member States and with the support of UN-Water and other relevant UN entities. These themes will be finalized during a subsequent one-day meeting convened by the President of the General Assembly, on July 9th, 2025. Following the adoption of the themes and the selection of the co-chairs of the interactive dialogues, a high-level preparatory meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference will take place in Dakar in advance of the December Conference.

His Excellency Ahmed Bin Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State, met with The Honourable Dan Jarvis MP, UK Minister of State for Security, in Abu Dhabi, to discuss the UAE-UK partnership to tackle illicit financial flows.

The meeting brought together senior representatives from both nations to discuss key areas of cooperation, including financial security, anti-money laundering measures, and emerging risks in the global financial system.

His Excellency Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines and Non-Resident Ambassador to Palau, met with His Excellency Surangel Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

H.E. Al Zaabi conveyed the congratulations of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, to H.E. Whipps and the new government on their official inauguration. Moreover, HE. Emphasized the aspirations of the UAE to further strengthen relations between the UAE and Palau across various sectors.

For his part, H.E. Whipps conveyed his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and his wishes for further development and growth for the government and people of the UAE.

During the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to reinforce cooperation between the two countries to achieve mutual interests.

Her Excellency Dr. Al Saghira Wabran Alahbabi presented her credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to the Republic of Paraguay to His Excellency Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, during an official reception ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Asunción. 

H.E. Alahbabi conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, to H.E. President Peña, and their wishes of further progress and prosperity to the government and people of Paraguay.

For his part, H.E. H.E. President Peña also wished the ambassador success in her work to enhance bilateral relations in various fields between the two countries, stressing his country's readiness to provide all possible support to facilitate her duties.

For her part, H.E. Alahbabi expressed her pride in representing the UAE in Paraguay, and highlighted her keenness to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors, which contribute to consolidating fraternal ties and cooperation between both nations.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of cooperation between the UAE and the Republic of Paraguay, and discussed ways of developing them to achieve the interests and aspirations of both countries and their peoples.
