"Iolanda Balas Soter" stadium in Bucharest
On the 3rd of October 2019, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdallah Bin Saeed Al Matrooshi, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Romania attended the Special Olympics Athletics Municipal Championship, organized by the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Bucharest in collaboration with the Special Olympics Foundation in Romania. The event took place at the "Iolanda Balas Soter" stadium in the Romanian capital, being sponsored by the United Arab Emirates embassy in Bucharest. The championship was addressed to people with intellectual disabilities from special schools, inclusive schools, associations and non-governmental organizations in Bucharest and was organized under the slogan "Year of Tolerance", a reference to the biggest sporting event of the year dedicated to people with intellectual disabilities around the world - the Special Olympics World Games which took place in March 2019 in Abu Dhabi . His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Bin Saeed Al Matrooshi welcomed the guests, including the ambassadors of the Arab countries accredited to Bucharest, and gave a televised interview in which he spoke about the special bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Romania, expressing his satisfaction to be organizing this sporting event in Bucharest in a period of fruitful relations between the two countries, manifested in various fields, including sports.
