The lecture delivered by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Bin Saeed Al Matrooshi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania, on the significance of the Year of Tolerance

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Bin Saeed Al Matrooshi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania delivered a lecture in front of the teachers and students at the Department of Arabic Language, at The Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Bucharest , on the significance of " The Year of Tolerance", where His Excellency indicated that "diplomacy of tolerance” is the main title in the United Arab Emirates, in 2019. In this context, the UAE Ambassador pointed out the importance of understanding and acknowledging the meaning of tolerance, indicating that the announcement of 2019 as " The Year of Tolerance", in the United Arab Emirates has come to celebrate the great human heritage left by the founder of the state, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and also to highlight the values of coexistence, peace, and openness to the other. His Excellency the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania also addressed the topic of the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Abu Dhabi, this year, which took place at the same time with the visit of Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders, indicating that these visits were the result of the constant efforts made by the UAE during three decades, with the aim of promoting values such as moderation, peace and religious pluralism. His Excellency the Ambassador also spoke about the significance of the date of 20 October 2019, which marked the beginning of the one year countdown, until the launch of the Expo 2020 Dubai events, emphasizing, in this context, the fact that the UAE has become a global destination and a meeting point for civilizations and cultures of different religions, nationalities and societies without exception. Furthermore, His Excellency pointed out that Expo 2020 Dubai, aspires, through its theme, " Connecting minds, creating the future" to provide a meaningful legacy of tolerance and to educate young people in the spirit of tolerance and inclusion. H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Bin Saeed Al Matrooshi highlighted that the success of the UAE, nowadays, in providing a model of stability and tolerance in the region comes from its moderate approach of its foreign policy and from its openness to the world, as it continues to rely on strengthening international peace and respecting the others.
