World Arabic day

As part of activities to raise the needed awareness about the global importance of Arabic language, the UAE Embassy Abuja joined the world to commemorate the UN World Arabic day which is celebrated yearly on 18th December. The event featured key note lectures from notable Arabic language scholars in Nigeria, as well as top Nigerian Government officials. The Honorable Minister of Information and Culture His Excellency Lai Mohammed delivered a remark on the significance of the Arabic language to human development. The UAE Ambassador to Nigeria Dr. Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq in his speech focused on the importance of Arabic language as pillar of cultural diversity of humanity and prominent form of global expression. The event featured a calligraphy exhibition and workshop session where calligraphers taught non Arabic speakers simple words in Arabic and how to write them.
