UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes the prosperity and security of the UAE globally by:

• Developing and implementing the UAE's foreign policy;
• Fostering and strengthening relationships with key international trade partners;
• Providing humanitarian and development assistance to vulnerable populations;
• Providing consular services for Emiratis abroad; and,
• Overseeing the UAE's global network of missions abroad.

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, laid the foundation of the country's foreign policy:

"The foreign policy of the UAE aims to support legitimate Arab and Islamic issues and interests and strengthen friendship and collaboration with all other countries. Our policy is based on the principles of legitimate rights, justice, and peace and is driven by our faith that peace is an urgent need for humanity."

Charged with overseeing the UAE's diplomatic relations with foreign governments and international organizations, the Ministry works to advance the Founder's vision through strategic partnerships and open dialogue. Domestically, the Ministry collaborates with other government agencies and international organizations to address areas of priority, including sustainability, labour rights, climate change, and combatting terrorism.

As part of the national strategic vision set out in We the UAE, the Ministry works to promote a diverse and sustainable economy. It does this by participating in the negotiation of international trade agreements alongside the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of International Cooperation. These agreements are designed to open up new markets for UAE businesses and foster economic growth. The Ministry also provides guidance and services to businesses seeking to enter the UAE market.

Through its embassies and diplomatic missions around the globe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs serves as a vital link between the wise leadership and people of the UAE and the rest of the world. The Ministry works tirelessly to safeguard the interests of Emiratis and promote economic and cultural exchange. The Ministry also manages the majority of the UAE's international humanitarian assistance and development initiatives. This includes coordinating responses to humanitarian disasters, where the Ministry works with other countries and international organisations to provide aid and support to affected populations. The Ministry also administers foreign aid programs, further demonstrating the UAE's commitment to global humanitarian efforts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs develops and implements policies and programs based on all available evidence. This includes consultation and engagement with Emirati citizens, expats, and international stakeholders. The Ministry values the input of all those affected by its decisions and strives to ensure that its policies reflect the diverse needs and perspectives of the UAE's population and its global partners.
