Human Rights Council Adopts Resolution on Yemen Presented by the UAE on behalf of the Arab Group

The resolution was presented by His Excellency Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva. His Excellency affirmed that the resolution on Yemen aligns with one of the core objectives of the HRC, which is to collaborate with the relevant country, strengthen its national institutions, and promote and protect human rights through dialogue, cooperation, and the provision of technical assistance and capacity building in the area of human rights.
The resolution requests the office of the High Commissioner to provide the necessary support to the government of Yemen to fulfill its commitments in the field of human rights and meet the needs of the Yemeni people in the development and humanitarian fields. The adopted resolution by the HRC aims to build capacities for the Independent National Committee, to investigate allegations of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, and to continue its activities to ensure accountability and justice, and undertake necessary reforms.
The resolution also reaffirms its steadfast support for international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive ceasefire, ending conflict in Yemen, and pursuing political dialogue toward achieving peace. Furthermore, the resolution calls for removing obstacles preventing the delivery of relief and humanitarian aid.
The resolution also called on all UN organizations, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and all countries, to support the transition process in Yemen by providing all the necessary resources to address the repercussions of violence, as well as the economic and social challenges endured in Yemen, in coordination with the international donors according to the priorities of Yemen’s authorities.
In this regard, His Excellency emphasized the UAE’s support of all regional and international efforts in finding a political solution in Yemen that achieves the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, development, and stability. Furthermore, His Excellency reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to stand by the Yemeni people and support their legitimate aspirations for development and prosperity as part of its efforts to support the interests of the region.
